Cleaning carburetor is something weird?

I have a 1996 Evinrude 48hp motor and I'm having trouble with speed when the throttle is wide open. Im trying to clean out the carburetors before going to the trouble of re-building them . I ran sea foam in the tank and I replaced the fuel line . I also sprayed some carb cleaner while the motor was running. When I sprayed cleaner in the top carburetor it would die instantly. If I sprayed it in the bottom carburetor it would bog down for a second and then come back to life.. does that indicate a possible problem in my top carburetor or is that just a coincidence?

Spraying carb cleaner into the carb throats does nothing to clean the carbs. The spray can damage your motor,as it washes lubrication off of the cylinder walls. There's really no practical way to clean the carbs without removing them. The deposits in the bowl, passages and jets are best cleaned with carb spray after dissasembly.

Probably just got a better shot in the top carb, as its has nothing to do with the carbs.....and
"Spraying carb cleaner into the carb throats does nothing to clean the carbs".....
.I could not agree more
