Cleaning control cables

Hi there,
(Couldn't find a more appropriate forum here, so here goes!!)
The remote control is very stiff to my 60 four stroke Yamaha. The 703 control is old but works very freely with the cables disconnected. Likewise the throttle and gear shift seem easy at the motor end.
The cables aren't kinked at all and are reasonable easily movable by hand but i would like to free them up further if a i can.

I'm not sure how they are constructed internally so can anyone tell me if i am wasting my time (new ones are a bit costly for me right now) or how i can try to do it.

Thanks, Ppinny

Re: Cleaning control cables

Probably best to just buy a new set of cables, as yours sound like they're warn and/or corroded. Good Luck!
