Cleaning ESA?

87 4.3 cobra with 26 years worth of grime on the ESA bracket. WD40 should be fine to hose it down with no? Any other suggestions?

WD40 would be ok for the mechanism. That would soften up the goo. Then you could follow with a tooth brush and some BrakeKleen. Whatever you do, do not get anything in the microswitch(es). That will cause them to fail.
