I just got my heads back from the machine shop one was out of true by .004 so they took .006 off both heads. What is the best way to prep the block surface before installing the gaskets and heads?

A wire brush should be sufficant enough to prep before installing the gaskets. or at least thats what i have done in the past and had no problems.

if you run in salt water dont use steel. use brass or better yet use the 3m pads on a drill or the rotoloc type. both will eat gaskets and not aluminium. steel wire, aluminium and saltwater equals eaten aluminium :) . the steel will transfer to the AL and in the presence of salt will do the nasties.
