Any tips on cleaning metal trim?
Like the stuff around windshields, seat pedestals, around engine covers, etc.....

The metal is somewhat pitted. How can you clean it and remove the pitting?

Try Scotchbrite and BonAmi for cleaning and shine (follow with wax if you like). You can't remove the pitting as it is metal that has been eaten away.

You can use Scotchbrite? How about light sandpaper to remove the high spots where there is pitting?

What type of metal is it?

If its pitted there really isnt much you can do. Any amount of sanding will only leave marks.

The only way to make it look like new is to remove it, clean it well grind all the pits out to glean metal, fill by welding, grind and sand them smooth, then have it powdercoated or painted.
