Cleaning Non-Skid Deck

I have a 1994 Carver 390 with the old style non-skid deck. As far as non-skid goes it probably is the best, with the consistency of sandpaper. However it is a real chore to keep it clean. It seems any amount of dirt gets trapped and any moisture seems to mildew quite frequently.

Any tips or suggestions on how to make this less of a high maintenance issue.
