Cleaning seats?

Whats a good strong cleaner to clean the boat vinyl seats with that wont hurt them?

Theres a good 3m vinyl seat condtioner, has uv protection in it, i use mr.clean magic erasers with a bit of hot water then finish the entire vinyl interior with the 3m product. I have a 98 and interior looks brand new.
I just found this works for me, somebody may chime in with a better one! Lol

I got some of the Gold Eagle cleaner sold here on iBoats, and was actually just using it today. Great stuff.

That is the million dollar question. We have tried just about everything. Magic eraser works pretty good but if you have white vinyl that has 20 years of dirt on it even they won't clean it completely. We have tried way too much to list and I just don't think there is anything that is perfect.

I am sure it is not good for vinyl but I did test the following on one of my small rear seats and I will see how it does - I used fume free oven cleaner (blue can) and let it soak for 15 minutes, the dirt will practically fall right off. Then wash/rinse and let dry. Condition the heck out of it with 303. I will let you know at the end of the year if the vinyl holds up to it. The way I viewed it is if the vinyl gets destroyed by the cleaner I now have an excuse to start upholstering.

The Magic Erasers are actually fine sandpaper. I would not use them on vinyl. Super Clean or generic purple cleaner (strong alkaline) works pretty good. Spray 9 is another good one.

When you clean your vinyl seats, you first need to determine if you are dealing with surface stains or mildew below the surface. If you have issues with mildew, you will need to use a product that contains a fungicide or bleach as opposed to a cleaner such as our 303? Multi-Surface Cleaner that does not contain any biocides. A diluted bleach solution would work well, and there are various fungicide/mildewcides recommended by the community in other threads.

Magic Eraser works because like mentioned above, it is a mild abrasive. It works but 'works' is relative though to me is the nuclear option. I've had some success with Spray Nine Marine as Spray Nine also makes a non-marine household product.

I got some 303 as a sample in my last iboats order. Have white seats with some mild dirt. We'll see.

I too used the 303 cleaner. I had to use bleach on a few. Mine were very bad, look pretty good for 15 now.

I recently tried the 303 cleaner and it works as well as Spray 9. I have 23 year old white seats in the StarCraft and they look new. The trick is to clean them regularly whether they look dirty or not. Every 3 weeks at least. I used Armor All for years but am going to give the 303 treatment a shot. If it works as well as the other 303 products it's a keeper.

I would say I see 303 protectant if not the 303 Cleaner maybe five times as often as Spray Nine Marine. My recent boat that I bought from the original owner had strict rules such as no fishing, colored drinks or food and no shoes in the boat. The thing is he never seemed to really detail the interior so the seats had marks and stuff on them. The Spray Nine Marine to my surprise cleaned the seats and every other surface to look like new including the engine bay. I am too timid to clean the engine itself as of yet as it has a thin film of oil all over it. I'm not totally shocked the Spray Nine cleaned dirty seats without any mold or mildew but was impressed that it cleaned the bildge yet is not harsh. I always though that you needed a bleach based product to clean the bildge.
