Where do you find AlumaPrep 33? and Sharkhide?
Look terrible has different degrees. If it has been sitting the water most of its life it is deeply pitted and would need orbital sander to get to look decent. If you are talking dark anodizing, I have used Aluminum Cleaner from NAPA. Get a spray bottle use about 2 or 3 oz. per qt. of water. Use paint stripper pads from Wally World spray bottle in one hand pad in the other. If you let it sit too long it will turn them white. If they have scum and algae on them start with a pressure washer. I have heard people using air conditioner coil cleaner from heat/AC contractors, but have never tried it myself. If you are going to garage it it makes sense to do the job now. If outside it will make the yard look better but will need touch-up next Spring as they will be streaked and dull.

I just did a search for Aluma Prep 33 and I got a source for $19.95 a qt. with a dilution ratio of 1 part cleaner to 2 parts water. It is phosphoric acid just like the NAPA Aluminum Cleaner, which I got for $12.00 a gallon. I has been 3 years since I bought some, price probably has gone up but if you have it shipped it may cost much for shipping and handling. (hazardous material?) Just saying watch your bang for the buck price. I suspect all of these cleaners contain the same active ingredient, some may contain perfumes or things to cover the rotten egg smell. I am tight with money so maybe I am not thrilled when I get mag wheel cleaner and the like for 6 or 7 bucks a squirt bottle full. I am not trying to be pick at anybody, just saying watch bang for buck ratio.![]()
