Cleaning up my logs

Hey everyone, so my first action towards my pontoon other then removing the old furniture is cleaning up the logs. They haven't been cleaned in quite a long long loonnggg time. No water stain as the previous owner only put it in 5 times a year and had it sitting in his yard, however the logs are very very dull. They almost look like a darker steel color. I've been seeing good reviews on JJVs Aluminum cleaner but I think that may be more for stains and algae/mildew buildup. I need something that's going to bring the shine back from the aluminum. Any Ideas??

If you really want them clean then I'd suggest using AC coil cleaner first and then polishing them up with Nuvite. I just finished polishing the logs on my 1993 Mini toon and it turned out great, lots of work though!! Here's a link if you'd like to see what a difference Nuvite makes.

I bought some stuff from an ac whole sale dealership last week. It cost me $17.00 for two one gallon bottles. It was for cleaning ac coils. I used a standard water spray bottle on it just to try it out. I sprayed it on heavy, let it sit for ten minutes. then I washed it off. It works but some stains that were on it from before I bought last year were still there. It doesn't remove those alumn. pitts or what ever they are called. but it was worth it I think. I'm going to redo it again this coming Friday. No labor involved. Just sprayed it on and then hosed it off.

Re: Cleaning up my logs

I'm not too worried how my logs look, but I do like them to be smooth. So when the boats in the water and I'm just swimming around, I'll grab a green Scott's Brite (sp?) pad and give it a light scrub. I generally just worry about water line and down, as unless you clean then seal, the aluminum will just oxidize again.
