Purchasing a used boat at a dealer, it has some clear coat peeling where the two colors are seperated by body moulding, it is a couple feet long.
Also a gouge in the hull, not cracks or rot, one spot about 3 inches long. I Have some autobody experience. Can these be repaired by myself in my shop. The rest of the boat is in really good shape for it age. Any advice is will be great. it is 1984 16 foot swiftsure with a 1988 75 hp mariner.

Re: Clear Coat Peeling.

hey man,you can wet sand the clear coat off and then shoot clear coat on it,its a task to sand it off but it looks great once you clear coat it again,as for the scrapes in the side, after you remove the clear coat you can repair the scrape spots only thing is your not going to repaint the boat so the repair will be noticable,my suggestion would be to repair the spot and paint the spot try to blend the paint as your spraying it,then wet sand it with 600 paper then clear coat the whole boat.
