Clearance question

Hello all. I have a 1986 Sunbird that I picked up for CHEAP and am getting ready to tackle some issues. I'm a little ways from this point yet but wanted to get some feedback. There is no engine box, or what I assume would have been factory seats either side of this in the stern (believe the model is Corsair; know it's a 195). My questions is, what would be an appropriate amount for clearance around the 3.0 omc when constructing the box?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Clearance question

it's just about accessing the engine for service. if the whole doghouse is removeable, 4 inches is all the clearance you really need from any part of the engine.

Thank you for the information. Not sure if I will actually make it to that point. I know ZERO history of the boat, and the individual I bought it from bought it for a project, said that the oil was milky. So I gotta see where that leads me on this journey. But I thank you for your response. Happy boating to you this season.
