Yes, I had the same problem. You gear is not fully locked into gear. It is either stuck between neutral and forward or neutral and reverse. Its not all the way shifted into gear.
It does it when in neutral. So does that mean when i start it it will be in gear and won't want to start because of that or is it really in neutral? I have to buy a batt for it when i get back home so can't give anymore info now. I brought it home last weekend and noticed the problem.
Mine is not an OMC, but my merc did that when the shift cable was out of adjustment. No the reason mine was out is because I pulled the engine and messed up the adjuster. If yours is just started doing this, it might be stretched. I would wait for the gurus to confirm this.
Mine also clicks when i spin it in neutral. I think there may in fact be some slack in my steering cable...only problems it that the props clicks when i take the lower unit off and spin it.
should it click even when lower unit is disconnected?
