from what I could find it is 1970 5hp.are parts like engine cowl avalible

J500 uses
1/6 pt.,48:1 ratio of "quality outboard oil"or TCW3 rated oil.
Some will say no must be "air cooled"oil My oil container says all 2 stroke applications including outboards.
The Clinton section of my after market manual says "quality outboard oil"

another question on my j500. ignition switch.is there a hard wired switch or does throttle kill mag or shut fuel off. no engine cover so I am searching blind. thanks mark....

I couldn't find any indication of a kill switch.I would say simply retard the throttle till it stops.
