A buddy gave me a Mont. Wards K700 1107A Serial 595 722 Year?

Can anyone give me some info about this motor and it has a broken tiller handle. Anyone know where I can find one? Is this motor worth trying to get running and is the leg water cooled? Thanks for any info gents. Mettyfish

The K700 is a 1972-73 Outboard motor, mix would be about 16:1 as the engine was originally designed as a chainsaw.

My info suggests 48:1 for motors larger than5.76 displacement your K700 qualifies.
also suggests a" high quality outboard oil" any good TCW3 rated oil will work.

My Intertec manual says that the K700 was built from 1972 thru 1975. It also backs up the fuel/oil mix as stated by 'steelespike'. BUT (pls. note large but!) a little extra oil isn't a bad thing. In 2 cycle engines the oil performs more duties than only lubrication. One of those primary duties is that the unburnt oil is expelled thru the exhaust carrying heat with it. So it acts as a coolant as well as providing required lubricity. So don't be afraid of oil rich mixes! In fact some manufacturers have stated in the past that an extra oil rich mix can prevent engine damage should the waterpump quit working and go un-noticed for a time.
Were it my motor I'd run it at 32/1 and never worry about it.

I simply can't forget the wisdom of the 2 stroke sage who said "Oil is cheaper than parts".
