I have a 1960 Blue Star 16' alumn. v bottom-the dash has a speedo and fuel guage and a hole were a clock used to be-(I found a badly crumpled up clock face and needles behind it)-I'd like to 1-smack whoever tore out and destoyed the clock,and 2-replace it....seems by memory to be about 2 1/2-3"diameter- I am guessing there was likely a common source for theese instruments that many boat companys used-are there boat salvage yards someone might suggest or maybe a reproduction/replacement new part source?

the tach is a good idea-now I need a tach and a clock! the fuel guage is what I'll likely never use,so it can give up it's spot.I'd like to use correct stuff,or at least guages that look like they were born with the boat-is ebay my best bet for old stuff? I am assuming the tach will run off the ignition,so I need to find one for a twin cyl like I own,yes?

Are you planning on running the older motor WOT? A Tach would be nice but not a necessity with a boat just for cruising and fishing. My pet peeve is for a water pressure gauge on the dash..... since I look down at the dash more than the stern to see a tell-tale. As far as a clock..... Use a cheap Casio for boating.

When boating, I generally try to abide by the two-time clock...

Daytime and Night-time. Only difference is whether I use nav lights or not.​

after shelling a new impellor,the water pressure gauge sounds like a very good option to consider...bottom line is that I'm kind of a goof ball-I've had a few old cars and motorcycles and have always been somewhat of a purist-not so much full tilt restoration stuff,but I like to stay as close to factory equipped as possible.this is my first boat,and since the crumpled up clock answered my wondering as to what went in that hole in the dash,I've been thinking about sticking another in there just because it would be cool. theres nothing cool about knowing the time I blew up my motor though! thanks for the input-I have new things to consider-
