Rebuilding my 2000 VX255 due to a loss of oil transfer. Clover Leaf at the bottom of the oil level assembly was curled badly on one side. Warning never went off. Still had 48oz in the remote tank. Whether or not the clover caused the oil to stop transferring, I'm not sure. I'll check it out when I get the wiring reconnected. I see there are lots of info or that here.

My question is, is the clover leaf replaceable itself or must you replace the whole Oil Level assembly? Doesn't look like a very good design or material selection. Is there a better material to maybe fabricate one from? Rodbolt, I believe I saw where you said the OX66 was the only one with this design?

Re: "Clover Leaf" VX225 Oil Level Assembly??

only the 3.1L motors had that clover leaf, regular maint as per the manual may have caught it long before it was an issue, its why I BANG on PROPER maint so much.
but the ol switch assy is the only replacement option.
the rubber curls up preventing the oil alarm and RPM reduction and low engine level viual from occurring.
48OZ in the remote tank means the yellow lamp was lit and with the yellow lit NO automatic transfer can occur.then the engine oil level drops, the operater didnt pay attention, the swollen clover leaf prevents an alarm and POOF, no motor.
that clover leaf could have been that way for years.
when was the last time you drained the engine tank and actually tested it, as per the annual or hourly maint in the manual?
its also why I say simply fill the remote at every tank fill.
that clover leaf piece of rubber that locates the switch in the screen assy has NOTHING to do with oil transfer.
mmmmmmm 2.9 gallon remote tank, minimum, VX means its a bass boat, holds less than 50 gallons of gas.
2.9 gallons is more than enough for 150 gallons of gas burned through.
VX and bass boat also means most likly its NOT rigged with yamaha digital tach and if not it does NOT have a low remote tank indicate.
there are NO alarms for low remote tank just a visual on a YAMAHA digital or some YAMAHA analog tachs.
