clucking in gear

My mercruiser 3.0 clucks going into forward gear any adjustment to prevent this.

It's dog type clutch in the drive, and will always go "Clunk" when you put it in gear, put it in gear quickly and don't let it ratchet, but no need to "Speed" shift it either.

Maybe the problem is that someone swapped the dog clutch out with a chicken clutch? <br /><br />Sorry....................<br /><br />

hows you idle speed should be 650 in gear harder to do on a 3.0 but makes a big difference<br /><br />tommays

While were talking about it, should a Bravo 3 clunk into gear too? I've had a merc 1, alpha 1, OMC Cobra and they all clunked into gear. My B3 does kinda clunk into gear, but not like the ones I mentioned. I've read few postings where boaters with B3's claim shifting is smooth as silk. Maybe I don't know how to gauge the clunk in an articulable way?

fishinfreak<br /> you will hear some noise with the cone clutch. some hulls transmit the noise better than others. you should hear a muffled thunk when all the slack comes out. its rather normal. <br /> hahahaha I like the chicken clutch
