Clutch Dog

GDAY TO ALL,I have a 35hp johnson seahorse,model 35EL78R,i need to replace the clutch dog but have no experiance on how to go about it,with the CLYMERS manual,it shows me jack ***t on how to do this procedure.Is there anyone who cld talk me threw it,or maybe some pictures on the forums on how to do this would b appreciated..............CHEERS:cool:

Done it on a 50 but never a 35, it isn't hard btu you need some really long snap ring pliers as that is the first thing you come to is a snap ring, after that every thing comes right out.

I don't think you need to pull the pinion gear to do that.

Having said that take a really good look at all your gears, the way that gear box is you probably damaged the gears if the dog blew up.

If the engine is running the gears are turning and any chunks get circulated around and get chewed on by the other gears and it doesn't take much to kill the other gears.

I woudl also really reccomend an OEM manual, either here or Ebay, it will show everything you need to know.
