I am going to order a manual for my 1988 90 hp Evinrude V4. This site has both the Clymer and Seloc manuals available. Any opinions on which would help me the most?

Re: clymer or seloc?

Hmmmm, tough one. I have a 85 120 Evinrude and bought the Seloc one first. Just got the Clymers last week. Seloc was definately a little too general for the things I've been working on. Looks like the Clymers might have some more carb info. Haven't looked at it enough to say for sure but I'm gonna say Clymers for lack of a better choice. I bought some rebuild parts for my VRO pump from this guy last week (see link at bottom). He said they have an OMC manual for 85 but it covers all engines and cost 90 bucks so he suggested I buy the 86 or 87 OMC manual as there's few differences. I'm out over sixty bucks and have 2 manuals that tell me the VRO pump can't be rebuilt! But the rebuild kit's on its way!?

http://www.maxrules.com/

I highly suggest the mfgs. repair manual for
your specific motor... my seloc covers all merc
inline 6 and v6 motors from 1969-1990.
confusing to say the least!

If you plan on working on the engine yourself, I would suggest you also order the parts catalog. In additito to part nrs., it has exploded views of a lot of stuff and well worth the money.
Hooty thinks so anyway.

c/6

Hooty

Great Idea Hooty! Sure would be nice to have the P/N at hand. I might just do that myself!
