CMC Power tilt and trim questions?

I have an 87 Merc 35Hp without tilt and trim. Has anybody used or know much about the CMC PT35 tilt and trim units they sell here at iboats? I have read some reviews that were good but wondered if someone has personal experience with them. I run this boat alot in rivers and would be very beneficial in other ways having power trim. Any information is welcome and appreciated, Thanks.

Re: CMC Power tilt and trim questions?

I just bought and installed a CMC PT130 the big brother to the PT35, it was an easy install and works great so far. I must qualify that by saying I have yet to have it in the water this year as I just finished a total rewire of the boat. If it works as well on the water as it does sitting in my garage I will be more that happy.

they are great units. they been making units before for motors, before they became a manufacturer item. they started in the 50's with a hand pump, hydrolic unit. to tilted the larger motors. they are the top quality aftermarket unit.

Re: CMC Power tilt and trim questions?

I had a CMC130 on RED SKY.

Worked well, except that tilt and trim both move at the same speed, making getting optimum trim difficult. I much prefer the OEM PT&T, because trim is a finer adjustment running at a lower speed.

I would not have another. I would invest in an OEM PT&T to fit my engine.

Re: CMC Power tilt and trim questions?

Thanks everybody, I had heard they are good units. Quite a bit cheaper and readily available...I couldn't find an OEM unit for my 35 Merc......the OEM wouldn't allow for setback like these do...
Do you think the PT35 should be good for my setup on a 14 ft Starcraft SF14 DLX side console or should I consider the PT130?
The specs say its good up to 35Hp...

it will be fine for the 35, but if you want to upgrade to a higher hp in the future, you will have to change units. what is your max hp rating, also consider the weight difference in the units.

Thanks everybody for your input. I am going to try to find someone local who has one I can see in action. Then I believe i am going to order one from iboats.

Guys-
I've been thinking about putting one of these in my 14' side console, but it's already a little stern-heavy. How much does the PT35 weigh?
