well come spring and the boats all ready for the water agian i want to buy some new toys for it even know i i'm dumpind at least $400 in the deck and rewirign but thats beside the point. i want to know if that tilt and trim bracket is worth the money. i aslo have to have some work on the motor to make it run like a top but still im kinda sick of lifting the motor and have to paddle alot when i get to shallow water. i also want to know how to pick witch one to get for my boat. theres diffrent kinds one with just tilt and trim and ones with just tilt? what should i get?

Re: cmc tilt braket worth the money?

I have a CMC PT-130 that's rated for up to 130hp outboards, that's the one you would want. It is totally sealed, and basically maint free.

They are pricey, but there's no way I could do the things I do with my boat otherwise since I have a '72 Merc 80hp that lacks TnT.

I love mine but it came with my boat as a bonus, not sure if I'd pony up the cash for a new one. Maybe you could find a used one. I know I will never sell mine so they are hard to find used.

The other brackets are jackplates not trim units, they are to raise and lower the motor vertically.

For $100 you can buy a brand new Minn Kota 30lb thrust and leave the paddle stowed.:)

I have had mine for 6-7 years now without a single problem and you need the CMC PT 130 tilt trim.

i think it depends on your engine. A lot of engines can get a reman. factory original for less than a kicker plate. I like the factory stuff because it installs in just a few hours and fits like it was made for the engine.
