I have a Bomber Bassmaster 15 1/2 boat with a 1977 Johnson 70 on it. The engine has power tilt only which quit working, so I put a CMC PT130 on it. The CMC unit sits as high as it can on the transom & I have the motor in the 3rd hole down, so I could raise it another hole. My problem is it seems slow coming out of the hole & do not get as good top end as it did without the CMC. Could the CMC be the problem or do you think I might have carb issues maybe with high speed jets. Thanks.

Where is the anti-ventilation plate compared to the keel, John?

The CMC plate has set your engine back about 5", so the AV plate should be about 1.5 to 2" higher than the keel.

You have also added about 50lb to the stern, so you need to be trimmed all the way in to get on plane. Trim it out for best rpm/speed after you are on plane.

Re: CMC Tilt

The AV plate is about 2 inches above the keel. The motor when I bought it had a Doelfin or whale tail on it. Don't know if that would make any difference or not. Thanks.

Re: CMC Tilt

I have a cmc130 on my skeeter starfire, it also decreased performance, lost a few mph on top end and noticed holeshot was lacking, have tried different height settings on the engine with only a little improvement.

I guess it is a trade for the tilt n trim extra weight and engine position, thinking about a jackplate instead of the tilt n trim but besides that the cmc130 does work well

Re: CMC Tilt

I have been thinking about getting necessary parts to fix the power tilt & taking the CMC off. I wouldn't have trim but it did run real good without it.
