I would definitely stay with the OEM PT&T if you have a choice, critter.

I have a CMC 130 on my Johnson 48SPL. It is not as easy to set trim (runs too fast) and it is really, really ugly.

If I repower it will be with an engine that has OEM PT&T. It has nothing to do with the weight, just user friendliness and appearance.

Only had it a few months, mnfish. I hope it breaks so I have a good excuse to go to OEM.

Re: CMC trim + tilt

Gees JB, I've always respected your opinions and mentoring of these forums but I have a completely different view of CMC products. I have a CMC ML65 holding a 60 hp Merc to the stern of the 18' Valco Bayrunner; not only does it let me adjust the motor hieght precisely so that I may run it 4 inches higher than the transom would allow, it looks cool. On the small lake boat, 12' Lund with a 15 Merc I installed a CMC PT 35; infreakincredible. Figured since I had an elec start motor I might as well get elec tilt and trim. Would not go back, allows for trolling in short waters, avoidence of rocks, and the ability to go faster than I've ever gone before. The aluminum "Jack plate" looks awesome on the stern of this boat. But I don't really care yea right as long as we catch some fish.

That ML65 is an entirely different product than the 130 PT&T, Wyo.

The question was about the option of OEM or CMC for T&T.

I have no issue with CMC products. I simply said that if I had the choice I would go with OEM PT&T.

I dont mind the 130 but it seems heavy i walk to the back of the boat and the water will run in the weep holes in the transom it wasnt like that when motor was mounted on by itself
