I am trying to remove my outdrive. I took the hydrolic arms off, and the 6 nuts and washers off. I have seperated the outdrive from transom, but it wont come all the way out. What am I doing wrong? Dont want to break anything. Please help.

If it's the later model SX cobra take off the rear cover and unhook the shift cable.

If it's an original cobra Some are a very tight fit between the yoke and the u-joint bellows, may have to pull harder. I'm not there so I can't see it and say you won't hurt anything.

If it's the cone clutch King cobra look for the plastic pin in the shift linkage in the gap you opened up.

Or you had some water in the boot and your rusted to the gimbal bearing

I'm taking it off for possible engine removal. The engine seems to be locked up, but I dont think it is. I think something is wrong in the out drive, ie, gear broke and locking stuff up, not in neutral......

If it's an original Cobra (years 86-93) they are supposed to be in neutral to be R+R'd. As noted there may have been water in the bellows and rust on the driveshaft as it passes through the gimble bearing.
