The last couple times i launched my boat the first time i put it in reverse i get a couple of clunks like it wants to pop out of reverse.
After it warms up or i run in forward gear its ok the rest of the day.
Could this just be a cable adjustment?
It shifts very easy and i'm afraid to try to adjust it..
Should i find a pro?

Re: Cobra reverse-clunk!

Looked over the shift cable instructions...looks complicated! I need to get it fixed before it eats up the gears. I guess there is no easy way to adjust it.
How do i know who to trust that knows the old omc drives when i take it to a mechanic?
A friend of mine knows a guy that has worked on boats for over 30 years out of a shop at his home.
Any certain questions i should ask him?

Stop in and talk with him one day and get a feel for the type tech he may be. Look around and see if it looks like a place where you would take your baby (boat) and trust him to take care of it properly. First impressions and gut feelings go a long way.
