I did get the water pump adapter plate off thanks to DHP and Cobra,Drove it out from the inside with a big hammer8)
Anyway, there is a slight groove where the old seal rides on the shaft. Will the new seal work or do i need a whole new shaft? By the way,is that bearing pressed on?

Kind of hard to get a good pic of this but here it is..

Here's a lil better pic Gary. That bearing is pressed onto the shaft. It also looks like the bearing has been getting water to it (note the pitting on the cage)and should probably be replaced along with the race. I believe DHP mentioned in your origional post that you may be able to install a "Ready/Speedy Sleeve" on the shaft if it was scared up. I believe the replacement shaft, if avaliable, is about 250 dollars. :^

Thanks Reelpoor, Magic with photos8), I noticed a little pitting on the bearing also, although the bearing feels very smooth and the rollers actually look good. The race is smooth as well.
A new shaft i can get for 190 bucks, the bearing is 30..GLM parts..
At least i know where my slight water intrusion was coming from. The old water pump adapter plate and seal were shot.
Now whether to spend the money or put it back together and run it awhile?
All of this started just doing a transom and u-joint service...Arrgh!!

My advice is change it. You have it off and open now. Mine snapped while out boating two seasons ago. Only noticed when my engine started fuming!!!! OVERHEAT!!! I was stuck about 2 kms from my dock...

Not only did I have to have my drive serviced, I also had to replace a blown head gasket and manifold gasket(had head and exhaust manifolds resurfaced), and replaced exhaust hose off the riser.
