Hello again. Was getting ready to fire my 74 mercruiser 140 for the first time since re-ringing it. Removed the coil wire and cranked it for 10 seconds a number of times to build oil pressure. I could hear what sounded like an arcing sound. Turned out it was my coil arcing from the metal electrode to the top of the insulator. In the enclosed picture the arc was going from one end of the red line to the other.
Is this normal or does it indicate a problem with the coil? BTW I'm not just pillaging. I've been trying to help others with the really easy questions.
