cold front

Well i took the boat out for a spin last weekend after sitting all winter ahh felt good to be out on the water my concern is it is supposed to get down to 30 deg Friday night i disconnected the two blue drain tubes on my motor (3.0 merc) do i need to worry about Friday??

Did you probe them to be sure they drained AND do have power steering ?<br /><br />if you have power stearing the cooler can freeze<br /><br />tommays

It depends where you are .Here in the north east it may go below freezing a few more times at night but it wont be cold enough or for long enough to do any damage.

i would say iowa is gonna stay cold enough long enough to due some damage if things are not drained <br /><br />tommays

I too have fired up my boat, and have the same set-up as yourself. Here in wyoming,its been cold every night since, As long as you drained your blue hoses and had good water flow from them.You are fine,Dont think freeze would be hard enough for damage, what little water you do have, even with lower temps. happen to freeze there is enough room for expansion. As i have learned from this forum.... Air dont freeze!!<br />Mind you, this is my opinion and i may be corrected at any time.

Just wanted to back you up poco. I to have a merc 3.0 with the blue hoses. They were the only driaing I did over the winter with no problems (already had the boat out). And we had several nights in a row with mid teens for temp.
