Whats a good cold start procedure for a 99 Johnson Venom 225?

It takes the engine a good while to actually want to run. What am I missing?

This is what I do. I hook up the water. Then I prime the oil and fuel usually the oil is very tight. Then put the key in and hold down choke and start it. I did see somewhere that I should hold the choke down for 10 seconds is this correct? I havent tried it yet but just read it somewhere. Any advice is Super helpful!

Key is to be pushed in and held in while cranking.------Load test your battery.-----Take starter apart for inspection and ohm test of armature.------Slow cranking can lead to a hard to start motor.

That model may have the " quick start " function.-----See if that is working.

Most controls have a function to open the throttle without shifting first.----We do not know what style control you have.----Picture needed.-----Quick start advances the timing when motor is cold.-----Does your motor's idle slow down as motor warms up ?
