I've read a lot of posts on the telltale remaining cold after extended runs or long idle.

It is my understanding that these 3 cylinder loopers have the telltale tapped before the water circulates through the engine. Therefore the water temperature is ALWAYS cold.

If this is true the only thing you monitor with our telltale is the proper functioning of the impeller/pump. And would recommend tapping a pressure/temp gauge on these engines to ensure proper cooling of the powerhead.

Please give your thoughts and or comments on abovementioned….

I agree with your initial assumptions. I had a stuck closed thermostat on a 90 hp '02 and the telltale was strong as ever.

Mark
