Three questions: What's the difference between Collinite 925 Fiberglass Boat Wax and 885 Special Heavy Duty Fleetwax? What product would you use on a brand new boat? Lastly, Practical Sailor claims all waxes will yellow over time, is that a true statement?

Thanks!

Re: Collinite wax questions

I have only used the 845 and have never had it yellow. From what I remember, the Collinite stuff is a petroleum product {at least the 845} and is pretty tough stuff. I have had tree sap hose right off of a vehicle with the 845.

Re: Collinite wax questions

Bascially the same product. One is in paste form (885) the other is a liquid.

One a brand new boat I would clean it down with Collinite 920 fiberglass boat cleaner first. Apply a coat of either wax and let it sit for 2-3 weeks. Then apply the second coat. After that cleanup only using water and car wash soap and it should last a season no problem.
