color scheme on a Spiegel Brooklure

this is a 52 or 53 Brooklure 500 (wow 500 hp!) 5hp. Picked it up the other day. new coils and a carb overhaul, impeller and lu oil and it runs great. It looks like the recoil may have been a different color than the tank. I am going to repaint it and wondered if anyone has an idea if it was a different color or just faded different.
