Okay, the compass on my Searay spins like I'm in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle. I want to replace it but I don't want to spend a fortune.
Is it unreasonable to expect that I can a decent compass for under $100 ?
Recommendations?

Re: Compass Advice

I would get one as large as will fit easily, maybe a 4 or 5 inch card. It is a little more expensive, but it will work , and you will actually use it.

out of curiosity have you tried moving it to another location? a new one in the same place may do the same thing. just a thought.

A compass doesn't just go nutz. You most likely have interferance somewhere coming from something.

How close are your electronics? Most state that they can not be mounted within X feet of a compass.

I was afraid this thread would go down the electromagnetic interference alley.
Let me assure you that my current compass is a real p.o.s. and needs replacement.

It sounds like you want to buy a brand new p.o.s., if you want to spend less that $100.
