Need a new sender unit.

Currently, I have the sliding float sending unit hooked up to my OEM Yamha digital reader.

I remember hearing if the swingarm was compatibility or not with the current reader but I forget.

Refresh my memory.:D

Awfully vague, SSF.

Care to give us a bit more info?

Re: Compatibilty

If the digital Yamaha fuel indicator accepts an input (resistance) from the sender between 33 and 240 ohms most any swing arm fuel sender will work. Since we have no idea what the fuel indicator requires, that's the best we can do. You can disconnect the send wire at the tank or at the gauge and measure the sender resistance to ground. If you have half tank of fuel, the resistance should be about 102 ohms. Full tank 33 ohms and empty about 240 ohms. If it is drastically different than that, the gauge and indicator must not be generic and therefore the sender is probably specific to the indicator. However, I seriously doubt Yamaha would do that.

The sender unit, the actual mechanical device that measure how much gas is in the tank if the tank is not a removable one.

Right now I have they digital kind. The one where the float slides up and down the pole.

Im asking if the swing arm type would work with the gauge I currently have.

Re: Compatibilty

I've never seen nor heard of a sending unit that you couldn?t remove from the tank.

The existing induction type sender is not digital. It's pretty much the same technology as the arm type sensor.

Why would you want to change from the induction type to the arm type anyhow? The difference in price isn't but $20 and the indication senders don?t bounce around like the arm type.
