Complete boat models list

Hi,

I'm looking for a boat directory with all the manufacturers and respective boat models, but i've only found lists with the manufacturers...

Do you know a site where all boat models are listed?

That list could go off to infinity.

Do you have a specific type of boat you are looking for? Bowrider, deckboat, etc?

Thanks. I was looking for a list organized by manufacturer, it's easier for me to browse, but that is good as well. Do you know if it has all the current models on sale?

The list is not for me. And that is exactly the problem, we still haven't decided on what type we want. We are beginning our search and we want to explore all there is. We know somethings we don't want, but it's all still on the open...

Which is why I was wondering is there was such a list, like it's available for cars.. That was my starting point.

sounds like you'd be better off going to a couple of boat shows to narrow your list a little.

The thing with boats is that there are dozens of manufacturers and for any given segment of the market they may each make 1-5 boats in that segment.

So, if you are looking for a bowrider in the 18-20 ft range the list could have 100s of entries. When you add in the possible engines/drives or outboard options that are offered the list gets even more complicated.

Boats really don't compare well to cars in this respect.

For cars there are very distinct price points/market levels and within each of those there are typically only a handful of cars for each size/segment type.

How many minivans are currently in production? Compare that to the number of 18-20' bowriders.

The first rule of boat shopping: Answer, ""How will actually use the boat?". That in and of itself is usually enough to get you started in the right direction.

If you plan to take the boat out on the lake for a few hours every weekend an 18' bowrider will probably work pretty well.

If you plan to take your boat from one harbor/marina to another down the coast and spend the entire weekend+ aboard, you may need a pretty large cruiser.

I'd say it is very likely that any list will NOT include all of the boats currently in production. There are a lot of speciality builders that would probably not be included. There are also a lot of model changes within the more mainstream builders that are hard, if not impossible to keep up to date by a 3rd party.

Thaks guys.

The type of boat depends also on some decisions I will be making soon: house, car, second house..

So, i'm really in the beginning of my search trying to see what there is available...

I found this site, http://www.powerandmotoryacht.com/boat-builders/ a lot similar to what you have here. It's kinda of what I'm looking for.

But if there's not a site with a relatively complete list, is there different sites with lists for different types of boats? Yatchs, powerboats, etc.

Best thing to do is talk to friends that have boats and ask them what would suit you best. Not just anyone but actual friends. I did that but didnt heed their advise. I now own a boat that I like but its not suited for my boating needs. I wish I would have listened to him. Exerience goes a long way in the boating world.
Decide what you want to do with your boat and what type of water conditions will you be boating in.These are two very important factors to concider. Get them mismatched and you will have unhappy passengers and or an unhappy captain.

NADA has an online USED boat pricing guide that covers 1975 through 2010. It does list all models and engine combinations. If you are close to a dealer, he may give you one of his expired editions or just read it online.
