1995 Force 120HP. I have replaced every gas and air line hose on this darn engine, and clamped them, including the primer ball and all the lines from the tank. Put on water seperating fuel filter, devarnish the engine and carb's, rebuilt carb's, removed the pickup and checked the screen in the tank, had the fuel pump rebuilt, and when I was finished it ran great for a day and a half...then started to bog again. If you squeeze the ball when it is bogging, it will pickup some. But bog as soon as you stop. What could it be? I feel like I have replaced or rebuilt everthing. Maybe a problem with whatever drives the fuel pump? Can I buy a electric fuel pump for it to bypass the pump and rule it out?

Re: Completely baffeled

A complete fuel pump rebuild kit is only $12 from Mercury, comes with instruction sheet, takes about 1/2 hour to do. Perhaps it was not done correctly, gasket is leaking, etc.

The fuel pump uses the crankcase compression pulses to pump the fuel. It only generates 2-5# of fuel pressure.

Electric fuel pump would be difficult, and dangerous.

Have you removed and inspected the filter in your new filter?

If you are sure everything listed was done correctly you may have a bad fuel valve in your pump. They cost 5 dollars each and there are three in the pump. The gaskets are 50 cents each. Two are press fit and one is held in by two screws

You sure that the rebuild kit comes with instructions Roscoe? I ordered 2 rebuild kits for the carbs from mercury through bass pro and I did not get any instructions, just 2 little plastic bags with the parts in them.Dont have to take fuel filter apart I installed one of those see-through filters, it looks good! Sounds good eurolarva! Those parts sound cheap too! Where do you get your parts and what kind of motor do you have?

Re: Completely baffeled

I just looked at your fuel pump and it is not the two stage pump most force motors have. Sorry. Here is the link to what I am assuming your fuel pump looks like.

Mine is a chrysler and one of the fuel gaskets was broke and the valve had a bad flange on it. I replaced all of them two years ago and my problem went away. Unfortunatly your pump is different
Is this what yours looks like?
Furel Pump

mercruiserparts.com is a merc dealer, or you can order from mercurypartsexpress.com, all are real merc parts.

Mine came with the instruction sheet.

Could copy and mail it to you if need be.

Re: Completely baffeled

Most of my parts I order online through Bam, outboard motor parts or the chad connection. I have collected a small junk pile from ebay as well. NAPA sells carb kits and impellers, and gasket kits. My chrysler has been pretty good to me and have not required any expensive stuff. Those fuel pump valves I mentioned earlier are from Bam.

This is the fuel pump I thought you had. It is from the Bam site.
Fuel Pump
