(Compression) 85 hp evinrude

how much should each cylinder have???and is it normal
for the back of the engine to get really hot when running? i just got this engine so dont really know alot about it...my first evinrude 76 model thx for all the help you can give----- Howie

In my opinion, at sea level, 650 cca fully charged battery, throttles in full warm-up position, motor at operating temperature, all plugs removed, using screw in tester, 110 to 135 psi.

Variation not to exceed 10%.

Indications: if lower or if variation exceeds 10%, decarb and retest; If decarb fails to improve, buy the cylinder head gaskets and visually examine the cylinders.

Around 125 is normal for that engine.

heads should not be so hot that you can not hold your hand on them for 4/5 seconds,assuming it is in the water or running on muffs, replace the water pump with a complete pump kit, if the engine is running ok,,
