Re: Compression check

Like ezmobee said, only way to get the water logged foam out is to remove it. It will not dry out on it's own. Water logged foam can add hundreds of pounds of weight. Draining the standing water in the storage compartment certainly helps, but I think you may have a bigger problem there with the water logged foam.

I have to agree. Once the foam starts absorbing water it is time to replace. If your boat were to take on water on the lake your foam would not do its job and keep you afloat. I would highly recommend replacement. I replaced my foam a few years ago and was really impressed with the difference in my boats performance. You might also want to take a good look at your stringers.

Like previously said take a very close look at your stringers - if there is water in foam it is most likely taht stringers have rot in them. Take alook at how boat sits on the trailer, do the rollers (if it is roller trailer) push inside the fiberglass, if they are then it means that stringers are not hard enough to keep the hull ridgid. You can also check for the rot in stringers by drilling a small hole in them. Wood has to look "fresh". Hopefully you are ok with stringers. It is very dangerous to drive your boat with rotten structure.

Also same applies to the transom.
