ARIZONABASSMAN,<br /><br />Warm up engine,<br />remove all plugs,<br />Ground all plug wires,<br />connect compression Gauge'<br />Hold throttle wide open,<br />Crank at least 4 times for proper reading!<br />Try to crank each Cylinder the same amount of rev's!

Re: COMPRESSION CHECK

Yes, PSI. At least 100PSI on all Cylinders and within 10 percent reading of each other.<br /><br />EDIT: The most important thing is that they are all close together in readings! 100-95-100-100 Something like that is OK! (Not to say that is what you have or will get)

Re: COMPRESSION CHECK

Have heard bad things about that year FICHT. I would stay away from it, unless you know it's backround real well! Of the two, I would go with the 1999 225!

Arizona, I would stay away from the 1998 FICHT. That motor has problems. I have an Evinrude 225 (carbed) that has performed well for me. What are the compression readings on the 225?

Re: COMPRESSION CHECK

THANKS RICK AND SAND.I'LL GET A COMPRESSION READING ON 225 SATERDAY MORNING . IF IT IS GOOD I'LL TAKE THE 20 FOOT JAVELIN HOME. THE MOTOR ALSO HAS THE BULLIT LOWWER UNIT. SHOULD BE VERY FAST.IT WILL BE A BIG CHANGE FROM 18 FOOT BASS TRACKER.I GOT ON A BASS FORUM FOUND ALOT OF BAD ON THE 98 FICHT. LOOKED UP THE JOHNSON 225 HO AND SEEN NOTHING BUT GOOD. I GUESS I WILL PUT UP WITH LITTLE SMOKE BUT WILL NOT SACRIFICE PERFORMANCE.
