compression on 130 johnson

Question for Joe Reeves as you seem to be a real expert on omc& johnson.I will soon have a 1994 130 hp johnson. I think the compression is to low at 110 psi would you advise me what a good comp,should be. thank you, claude 70.

Claude.... A compression of 110 psi is fine. In years past the compression was higher but has been lowered somewhat to compensate for the poor quality gasoline that we've encountered.<br /><br />This is not to say that the engine is trouble free or that it is not, but rather to state simply that a reading of 110 is okay, and as "DJ" (below) has reminded me, more importantly is that the readings be even on all cylinders.<br /><br />Hopefully others will jump in here with their comments on your question.

claude 70,<br /><br />I think 110 psi is OK too. Most importantly is that they are even.<br /><br />I think, once I owned it, I would decarb it, since you probably don't know if it's ever been done.

Thank you verry mutch guys.and Rick its not that i did not trust your opinion i just feel better with three of them.I am spending $11.000 on this rig which is a 1994 smoker craft ultima 175 and 1994 130 hp johnson,i now feel better with all of your expert help, thanks again guys, I will probebly need more help whene i get this rig home next week. by for now. C 70.
