I am getting 50-60 on my 1986 45 hp mariner is this good? I noticed ther all about the same +or- 5psi, I was useingg an older gauge, I can't get this thing running, have good spark, fuel is on the plugs, can't get a pop or nothing, the weird thing is it popped a couple of times when the carbs were filthy, I rebuilt them, set the needle out 1 1/2, 1 1/4 and 2 turns, nothing. I am Stumped, even if the timing was off it would pop and sputter right? HELP!

Don't fret about psi, bass. As long as they are all about equal +/-10% you are okay mechanically.

Do the "Outboard won't start" troubleshooting in Engine FAQs.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks JB, what are the bypass covers? I actually may need to raplacr the main batterey cable I did have issues with it at first, the motor turns over real good maybe just all the juice is going to the starter and not enough to the ignition? Thanks we'll see.
