A friend of mine asked me if his compression readings were good on his 50hp Evinrude.I assume the year is 90ish .He said both cyls were around 70.Sounded low to me but they were both similar.I told him as long as they were within approx 10 lbs of each other ,it was probably ok. 70 is a little low?? isnt it?? 70psi is very low. BUt the fact that the compression is the same in both cylinders makes me think the gauge is wrong, which is very common. Question: Does the motor run good and idle good? If so, I can assure you that the gauge was wrong and it has much more than 70psi.

It is not 10lbs of each other but 10%. 70 seems very low to me.
