got my gasket set today... didint have manifold gasket in it i ordered the wrong set thought it had the manifold gasket in it... the old one looks fairly good no cracks or kinks can i reuse the old one?...

Personally I would probably have tried decarbing the motor and verify valve adjustment before pulling the head.Doesn't take much of a piece of carbon to hold a valve open and cause lower comp.
If you did a wet comp. check and the #'s didn't come up(from dry test) then it's not rings.Rings could still be worn,but there is definitely another issue with the head and or gasket.

got everything back together seems that having the head cleaned and resealed did the trick.. runs smoother now at idle it ran a little ruff before.. think valves were sticking... thanks for alll the help guys i had a crash course in how to remove and reinstal the head and adjusting the rocker arms ....
