Compression test out of water

Hello <br /><br />I have a 1977 ford 302 175 Hp that has been stored for three years and now that I have more time I would like to start getting ready for the water. <br /><br />Can I do a compression test out of the water and with out the outdrive, as I am trying to find gears in the upper.<br /><br />Thank you

Not a problem! just do it. You should have marked your ball gears before you removed the outdrive. They like to go back together with their mates.
