I think most of the time, when you see the factory Quadrajet replaced with a Holley style carb, it's because the person who changed it doesn't know Quadrajets. Not knocking your friend or his abilities, just saying, that same motor setup with a properly tuned Quadrajet would start and run better AND save you fuel in the process.
