i have a 2.3L Ford in a 87 bayliner capri that i just did a compression test on. these are the results: 1: 120, 2: 120, 3: 90, 4:120. is that number 3 cylinder going to create some problems?

thanks in advance.

Re: Compression Test

The engne is well used. The 90 is on the verge where it will no longer fire. It will be low on power across the range and will develop if not already have a miss even with a full tuneup. You really need to have it rebuilt. Yourself or others, she's tired. Could go into further diagnostics, but your kickin a tired mule...

Re: Compression Test

What prompted you to perform a compression check?

Are you sure you did it right?

How do your plugs look? What color are they?

When the engine is running and you open the oil fill cap do you see a whole bunch of misty oil and blow by?

With all the plugs in and when you turn it over to start, does the engine make a steady sound like da da da da da da da or does the engine sound like da da deee da da dee da da dee?

I think the pros are right and you are running a tired engine. Take er slow and fix it over the winter.
