Re: Computer help

Post the error message you get. There are several possible places it could be coming from including your PC, your SMTP server or the host your sending the email to. Maybe the error message will help narrow it down. What's odd is that you can send replies but not new emails. Be sure the to: address you type for a new email is correct. With a reply, it is already there for you.

Re: Computer help

Thanks for the fast reply hotbyte. It does not matter who I address it to I get the same message as follows.
An unknown error has occurred. Subject 'whatever the subject was', Account: 'L-1', Server: 'mail.peoplepc.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 Your message has been returned by our UCE/spam filter. (#5.7.1)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): no, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC6F. That is what I get everytime I try to send "NEW MESSAGES" with my regular peoplepc accounts which I have 2 but not when I send new messages with my other 4 accounts that uses peoplepc to send with. I am stumped here.

Re: Computer help

Going out on a limb here, but it sounds like the peoplepc.com server thinks you are trying to send spam email. Its possible peoplepc just did some "tightening" up on their sever and are now finding this. In your PC's email client setup, check your all the fields where you enter your email address (the from:, default reply to:, etc.). Also, are you sending this from a PC dialed into the peoplepc ISP? I can't send email from my mindspring account at work because my PC at work doesn't fit into their IP range. I have to send it through our SMTP server at work. I did find 1 case of another peoplepc.com person having same problem on Google search. Have you called the peoplepc support? It might be a common problem with them. Good luck with it...these problems can be very annoying.

Re: Computer help

I agree with Hotbyte. Sounds like PeoplePC have those email addresses your are sending from as Spam. They either had a complaint or more likely made a mistake. I would call PeoplPC and would let them know the problem. They will able to modify the filter. This type of thing has happened to a lot of people out there lately. Here is one example.
http://www.wired.com/news/technology/0,1282,56235,00.html

Re: Computer help

Hotbyte, I am sending on my pc at home which I have set up with a peoplepc isp account. It just started this yesterday and it don't matter who I send it to, I get the message. I can even try to send it to myself and get it, but I can switch over to one of my pop3 accounts which also sends by peoplepc and no problem. I guess I will have to call them. They did respond to a e-mail I sent them with some things to do, but I did everything they said but uninstall and reinstall outlook express for fear that I would lose all my address.
