the old computer locked up and wouldn't reboot a whilst back so I put in the boot disk. Got asked to put in the win98 cd and ended up adding another os on second hd. Well I have enough hd memory so I just left it because it's working...well, er, except for their aren't no sound. It's a Micron dinosaur with about a 500egg processer, running Win98. I believe the sound board is in the motherboard...where do I find the drivers, and how do I load them. I do have all the disks that came with this thang, just can't find the dll's to get sound...TIA :)

Your on the right track...

You do need to load the sound drivers.
When you tell it to look for drivers (believe it is "add/remove hardware" in win98, been a long time since I've used that...

Tell it "have disk" and put what you think might be a disk containing your device drivers, let it search.... that's one way if you have no clue what disk is for what.

What Kind of computer is it?

Sometimes there is an aplication for the motherboard that must be ran to make stuff work, little different than just installing drivers for windows. My old Soyo board was like that, had to run the disk.

Check the MY COMPUTER and right click on it look at properties and look for device drivers.

Check the device driver list. The device driver is usually found on the win98 disk.

Common fault that drivers drop off on occasion.

Bob

I have the Micron disk that came with the machine but computor wouldn't find the dll's on its own, and I couldn't figger out which ones to load so at the moment I guess I just can't listen to my hillbilly music on the computer...thanks and if there are any more suggestions I'm all ears... :)
