I have a computer problem thats beginning to annoy the heck outta me.. Probably so simple I'll just go duhhhhh! :D

Anywhoo, It started about a week ago after i did some "maintinence", a de-frag, clean out cookies and temp internet folders, and so on..

For example: When I open a link in a thread the new page opens up in a minimized box, not in full screen like it did before... I don't believe I reset anything..

I've tried everything I can think of to re-set whatever settings may be fouled up, but nothing works..
Running windows xp..
Any suggestions?

Re: Computer question.

I have the same problem. I can't pinpoint a time or event that caused it to occur. Some times my links will open up partially off screen so I have to drag it over to even access the 'maximize' button. I hope someone here has a clue.

Am running Windows 2000 and IE 5.5

Re: Computer question.

Because you are running Win XP, You can go to The Start button, then programs, then accesories, then system tools, then system restore. It will show you a calendar, select a time that you know that everything was ok and click a date follow instructions and everything should be back to normal! One of the good things about XP!!

Re: Computer question.

this may turn out to be too dumb to consider... but i often minimize windows, due to having lots of windows open during my online time. the browser usually reverts to the last size.

could it just be, that you need to maximize, then close/reopen to get what you're expecting? :p

Re: Computer question.

Open one browser window.
Position reposition it, drag the side(s)/corner of it to get full size.
Do not use the maximize button.
When you have a full sized window in the position you want it in, close the window.

Now open a new browser window. It should open in the same position and size that you had before.

This can sometimes get screwed up if you are closing browser windows and a popup appears. If it is the last one you close, the new browser windows will be that size.

Rosco is right - but use "file -> exit" not the "x" in the corner.

Re: Computer question.

yup, my system with xp "remembers" where i left it. if it's fully open, it shows there the next time.

as for system restore, great tool but be careful. suggest "saving" prior to trying anything crazy or installing a new program. allows you to then "restore" back to that date if something goes bad. this worked for me recently, but because i had not saved any dates, i was forced to restore back to the only date it knew- when it came out of the box. lost some files and programs.
