I dropped off my 18 hp 1981 mercury at a certified repair center. All of the lower unit oil leaked out during winter storage. I called after two weeks of not hearing anything and was told, "He but some stuff in there to seal it and he is waiting for it to seal. The first stuff he put in there didn't seal after pressure testing." This response scares me because I am afraid that they aren't really fixing it. Anyone every here of this practice?
thanks for the help

All nonsense to me.-----It had water in it and froze / cracked ?-----Or it needs a seal kit.-----No such thing as mechanic in a can / tube will fix it.----That is what I say without actually seeing what happened.----Should be easy to figger out I think.

Best to talk directly to the mechanic . . . What you got was jibberous.

When they call about picking up this sealed lower unit, tell 'em you'll be on the way as soon as the ink dries on the money.

I would talk to the mech doing the work. Something is wrong.
